Graffiti Bridge DVD
A cut and paste of a comment I made on alt.music.prince a day or two ago:
I hated everything about this movie when I first saw it. Having seen it
again a couple of days ago, I think the visuals were pretty good, actually.
The sets, while obviously artificial, look quite nice in most instances. I
also see almost nothing wrong with the cinematography. The only thing I hate
about this film now is, most of the music, and the FUCKING dialog. Bad
acting I can handle and sometimes find enjoyable. That the cast were able to
deliver their lines with straight faces (for the most part) is commendable.
The trailer was pretty cool, though. I don't remember that scene with
Morris and Jerome in the limo being in the movie. Where's the uncut GB?

Gigantor!!!!

A live action Gigantor movie is coming. One of my favorite cartoons as a kid.
Giagantor is based on the manga, Tetsujin 28go (Iron Man #28) and the black and white anime was broadcast on U.S. television from the 1960's to the early seventies. The cartoonist was Yokoyama Mitsuteru who apparently created an impressive body of work.
I'm not familiar with most of it. I have one Tesujin manga in Japanese, and like I said, loved the anime as a kid. There is a great tribute to his work in the nineties anime, Giant Robo which centers on that creation, and also includes characters and concepts from Yokoyama's various other manga like Tetsujin and an adaptation of Romance Of The Seven Kingdoms (or some other Chinese epic). This anime, which is headed to DVD in region 1 is highly recomended, especially to those who fondly remember such old school anime such as Gigantor, Battle Of The Planets, Speed Racer, and Cyborg 009 (the late seventies run, not the new one that recently aired on Cartoon Network).
http://www.tetsujin28.jp/ has the teaser for Gigantor, which is now slated for a mid-2005 release. I found the news at http://www.kfccinema.com/ by the way.

Voting
I feel that not voting is the same as voting. It just says that "whatever
the rest of you decide is okay by me". It reinforces the status quo.
Personally I think a more valid "none of the above" option would be to cast
a vote for a long shot candidate. One who's not likely to win. It lets the system know that while you're not happy with the two major candidates, that you're still willing to participate
in the process. It's often what I've done. Sure it makes little impact if
any, though I think more are finding that option with third party candidates
they actually like (won't be happening much this year), but the party that
loses in a close election will know that victory could've been theirs had
they captured more of the third party vote, as was the case with the Dems
and Ralph Nader (and the Repubs w/ Pat Buchannan not too long ago). More
votes in play means the parties have to work harder, less makes their work a
little easier.
