The Jo Ann and Stacy Show has played some of Don't Leave Me Hangin' for the second time. This time as the outro music, instead of intro. Mentioned before, their show follows and comments on the TV show, Survivor. I've never seen Survivor.
Read more about the podcast here and/or download it here.
Enjoy.

I wasn't expecting Merry Chistmas (and A Funky New Year) to get any attention for a little while (six months) longer, but Deliberate Noise has put together a belated holiday show because they can.
I found I didn't care for much of it, till the faster paced songs kicked in. Still, I wasn't in the belated holiday mood, though I liked the rant about Bill O'Really and the war against Christmas at the end. Also one of the songs was by Lee Harris and The Tiajuana Horns. Harris, I think is a fellow Prince fan who used to post on alt.music.prince. Interesting co-inka-dink, if true. Now that I think about it, this might not be the first podshow we've both been played on. I don't feel like researching this, though.
The Deliberate Noise homepage also hosts a comicbook discussion podcast called Comicbook Noise, which I will listen to at some point.

Don't Leave Me Hangin' was used as intro music on the latest episode of The Jo Ann and Stacy Show podcast. This podcast follows the progress of the television show, Survivor.
Stacy is a dude. Even though I've been aware since I was nine or ten that it's a legitimate male name, I'm always surprised when I find out a Stacy is a guy.
Anyway, I thank them both for playing my music.

Another Podcast Play
Can't Wait was recently featured on Murphy's Stew, a spin-off of the usually bluesy Murphy's Saloon. The Stew explores the diverse styles of music found on the Podcast Music Network. Other highlights from this show includes, Freedom For My Soul by Mark Harold, and Space Rocks Keep Falling On My Head by Away With The Fairys.
Listen to (or download) the show here...
I'm gonna have to get the latest Saloon as well, as I happen to like me some blues...

Now Yer Talkin' (WOR Podcasts)
Radio mostly sucks and I have little use for it. I do have one my ex-girlfriend recently gave me that's crank-recharge-able that accesses shortwave frequencies in addition to AM/FM and has a flashlight. I think it's pretty cool. The shortwave stuff anyway, and the flashlight has come in handy in a coupl'a situations.
But current music stations are crap and most of the talk shows even more so.
There are exceptions. Radio Paradise is a nice mix of contemporary-ish music styles that I access through WinAmp.com.
For talk there's no other show than Lionel. None. Not on the right. Not on the left. Apparently, common sense isn't too much to ask for. He gets played locally through WOR from 11pm to 1am. The show is actually three hours. For some reason the station joins him in the second. The full three hours is then broadcast the next day from 6pm-9pm as a re-run. I often listen to the show via my computer, streaming off their site.
I recently found that WOR is now podcasting, that is, taking their shows and providing them as mp3 downloads. Great news for me. Even better, the full three hour show is being made available. Bad news? The shows are about a week old (older if they're re-runs), so they're not up to date. Good news? Commercial free.
Now I have to learn how to subscribe to one of these things. I downloaded the January 16th (a re-run of an earlier) show in three segments and uploaded them to my PSP. I heard the last hour last week (me and a friend at work call this the "monkey brain" episode), but the first hour definitely helps put the whole show in perspective.
I didn't catch most of last weeks shows, so I better get to downloading...
January 17th, 2008 - Lionel's no longer on WOR, last time I heard. I stopped listening a while back. Don't remember how long ago, but it might've been sometime after I heard him (seem to) entertain some of that "truther" non-sense. He might be on Air America now. I dunno if the show is still downloadable. I don't remember what the monkey brain thing refers to exactly (a callers comments).
Haven't listened to Radio Paradise in a while either but they are still there..

Played On Another Podshow...
The AndyCast became the last podshow to play Merry Christmas And A Funky New Year
in 2005, having played the song on December 28th. Here's a link to the page that has a link to the show's mp3 file. There's a skit on here about Tim Henson and elderly employees at McDonalds. I thought maybe Henson was this guy who used to host Talk Soup on the E! Channel once upon a time, but no, it's some other guy. I just checked and it turns out the guy I was thinking of was John Henson. My bad.

Podcasts
I've been played on a few podcasts over the last few months.
What's a Podcast? Kinda like an internet radio show, but archived in mp3 or similar format to be played on a portable player like an iPod. More info at Wikipedia.
I'd like to try doing one at some point, but like many other things, it'll wait for a while. Perhaps that'll be my New Years resolution.
I have some music on the Podsafe Music Network, a collection of podcasts as well as music which can be used for such. Links below.
Folks who've been kind enough to think my music was good enough to at least serve as time killers on their programs are:
Bandtrax, the husband and wife (?) team of RenaMarie and Canis Lupus. They've got a kinda morning show vibe. Bright, fun, energetic. The show they played me on also had this dude, Matthew Ebel, who's worth a listen.
Here's the show from Tuesday, July 2005 (they play my song, "Can't Wait").
More of their podcasts can be found here.
On August 13th, I was played by the stellYseepodcast, an interesting German electronica show, but with very little (I've not heard any, yet) spoken commentary. Current and recent shows can be found here. It's very eclectic, atmospheric, cool. Perhaps my favorite so far.
Revolution Radio is hosted by Jeremy, who seems very dedicated to alternative and indie music. He was very laid back on the episode that played one of my songs (ep 39?), but I believe he had sinus issues which have been since resolved, judging from a couple of recent shows. I'm not aware of an archive, but current and recent shows can be found here.
Podcast Eu Como Maçã played "I Want" on their 4th episode. I don't know what language this is. I guessing Portuguese. It's cool to hear PsychoVoyager pronounced with an accent. Hell, it's cool to hear the word pronounced at all. Likewise Edshugeo, which RenaMarie and Canis struggled with on their show. I found Eu Como Maçã by googling myself, which I do on occasion. It's hosted by Rafael Gaspar.
I also found myself on The Podcast Network:: A Late-Night Blues and Jazz Hangout.
Don't Leave Me Hangin' was played on the first episode.
I hadn't heard of the Podcast Network before I googled, but they seem to have quite a bit of content to offer and bill themselves as the first commercial podcast network in the world. I'm sure there's more to podcasting than these guys and Adam Curry's Podsafe Music Network, but I'm still new to all this. Apparently many podcasts are available on iTunes as well as through subscription through xml and rss feeds, but that's more crap I know very little about at this point.
Hello Gina is not a podcast, but an mp3 blog. A musician quoted in an article in Wired magazine once likened an mp3 blog to a friend with really good taste in music. It turns out she really does have some good taste and since she mentions my Prince cover here, perhaps I should consider her a friend. When I first saw this I bookmarked the page, but when trying to return, found the page wasn't there anymore, but oddly found the actual address on The Hype Machine. Actually, the permanent link I had (for that post) seems to have changed and all I had to do was check the homepage address, and go to the archives, which is what I did once I got to The Hype Machine.
Like I said, I'd like to do a podcast or a few and hopefully I'll get to do that in the new year. There's a lot of decent music on both the Podsafe Music Network, and the Internet Archive and not all of it is mine. The stuff that is, is here and here.
Give some of it a listen (not just my stuff)...
